Support for Mainframe Developers

Across the Boards offers APPX support for many host environments, and for both PC and host initiated sessions. The APPX Router provides a gateway between SNA (LU6.2) and TCP/IP, without requiring TCP/IP support on the host. The APPX Router adds security and support for Internet, Extranet and Intranet sessions, while offloading work from the mainframe.

Session Types Supported by Mainframe APPXs
table

3Sessions to CICS, TSO, CMS and APPC/MVS can be established by APPX/VTAM during sessions initiated from the host.
4Support provided by APPX/VTAM running under TSO.
5APPX/Host-to-Host sessions may use either LU6.2 or TCP/IP Direct, and are initiated by support in APPX/VTAM. APPX/Host-to-Host sessions may use the APPX Router.

In addition, APPX can be customized to run in other mainframe environments.

The VTAM (LU2 and LU6.2) and TCP/IP support for APPX/VTAM is provided by CFXVTM1, which may be licensed for use in non-APPX application.
